BAG OF BEANS: Something Good is Brewing in Tagaytay

(pls. click on picture for larger view)

After a filling meal at Balinsasayaw in Silang, Cavite (previous post), girlfriends and I decided to continue our afternoon rendezvous at one of the highly recommended foodie and coffee-lover locations in Tagaytay, one whose name has gained an increasing following already. Hence, our biyahera feet took us to BAG OF BEANS for some delicious afternoon coffee, more girly talks and not to mention, more posing for the pics!

Bloc 62 forever! :)

Yup, we're as satiated as self-indulgent wild felines after our hefty lunch, but the eagerness for new experience and of course, for quality time in the company each other, kept us going. This time around we did not encounter any trouble in finding our destination,it being located just along Aguinaldo Highway (Mendez crossing West). Plus, it was easy to spot the "Bag of Beans" signage.

The facade of this coffee shop gave me the impression that it's just a typical, small and simple coffee shop."Now, what's the fuss all about?" was my mental question. But once we got inside...well, wow! My skeptic mind was hushed...IT IS WORTH THE FUSS, after all.

Ms. E & Ms. K, so comfy here, enjoying a breather from their busy scheds :)

Ms. G, looking pretty despite the dahon :) peace, LOL!

At eto din si Ms.E, so cool and poised even after the drive (pls. take note of her new bracelet hehe)

It's like stepping into an entirely different place--ala space and time warp ba hehe. Ok, exaggeration aside, the place is a mix of trendy and antique, of native and exotic. The overall effect achieved by its interior design is that of utter coziness, comfort and warmth. Upon entering, you'll see open cabanas or cottage-like cubicles embellished with wide white sofas and throw pillows and whose big windows are draped with immaculate white curtains. Of course the choice of ornamental plants contributed also to the coziness of the atmosphere.

O ayan panay me hawak na camera...mga photo-addicts!!! :)

Moving onward, inside the main building is a feast for the artistic eye. While, it's on that side of the road not facing the marvelous Taal Volcano, I guess the place quite made up for this by embellishing beautifully.

I so love!

The girls' afternoon treat

It seems that going to BAG OF BEANS is not just about drinking coffee--although they do make good brews! There is an added specialness in being surrounded with the relaxing beauty of the place. In other words, there is added value to the experience, which makes the distance, travel and every penny, worth it. As I've said already, the place is worth the fuss and hype.

It really was worth the try!

I first heard about Bag of Beans with respect to its Coffee Alamid, but I came to learn that, unfortunately, they are no longer serving this rare specialty. I instead ordered a cappuccino, a classic favorite not only because of its cinnamon-laced taste but also because it has far lesser calories than its popular sisters, the latte and mocha. Ironic, however, that after all the calories I already consumed, I still have the gall to think about "less calories"!! LOl. And I think I completely negated this reasoning by ordering the cappuccino variety spiked with uber sweet caramel.

Reo ordered a yummy caramel machiatto; Grace a rich, full-bodied hot chocolate; and Eden and Kresta, creamy mango and melon shakes, as refreshing coolers that afternoon. The cappuccino and macchiato cost PHP 95 each; the hot choco, Php105; and the fruit shakes, PHP105 each. Refreshing fresh fruit shakes!

We haven't tried the pastries and breads, on account that we were still full, but I've heard rave reviews about Bag of Bean's baked products as well as its main courses, pastas, etc. At least, there is something to look forward to and something left to try on my next visits to this amazing place :)
